Best Places to Take Prom Pictures in Houston

No prom night is complete without prom pictures! Some of the best prom pictures make use of outdoor venues and attractions and Houston is home to several great outdoor spots for taking photos. Here are four of the best places to take pictures for prom in Houston.

1. Kemah Boardwalk

Kemah Boardwalk is one of the top outdoor attractions in Houston. Featuring an old-fashioned wooden pier, carnival rides, and fair food vendors, it’s an excellent place to take pictures for the prom! If you visit the boardwalk during the day, you and your date can take pictures walking along the boardwalk or looking out at the water. For a more dramatic set of pictures, head to the carnival at night and pose against the backdrop of the lighted Ferris wheel.

For a fun twist, stand on the carousel and pose next to the horses. You could even sit on one of the carousel horses and have your date pose as he extends his hand to help you dismount! Or you and your date can take pictures as you run through the Dancing Water fountains!

2. Hermann Park Conservancy

Hermann Park Conservancy is full of beautiful photo opportunities for prom. You and your date can take pictures sitting on a bench in the Japanese Garden or standing under the garden’s pagoda. For an authentic Houston shot, pose in front of the Sam Houston statue or look into each other’s eyes in front of the entrance to the Houston Garden Center.

If you want to take dramatic shots, sit on the edge of the conservancy’s reflecting pool with the Pioneer Memorial obelisk in the background. You could also visit Mecom Fountain at night and pose in front of the lighted water jets.

3. Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park

Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park is home to a multi-story artistic fountain where water falls in a continuous sheet along a sheer horseshoe-shaped wall. The waterwall is fronted by a columned entrance that is perfect for prom pictures and the green landscaping around the fountain would be great for a picnic-style shot.

Visiting the park during the day allows your pictures to capture a good look of the waterwall and the landscaping. A night shot with the lighted fountain in the background is great for showing the colors of your prom attire or capturing the romantic mood of the evening.

4. Bayou Bend House and Gardens

Part of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the Bayou Bend House is home to American decorative paintings and artistic furniture from the 19th century. The house’s grounds are beautifully maintained for perfect picture-taking. You and your date can take a shot standing under the columns on the house’s front porch or next to the foyer staircase.

For a homey theme, take a picture of the two of you entering the door of the drawing room or admiring the art in the historic dining room. If you prefer outdoor pictures, you and your date could walk through the floral maze in the botanical gardens or sit next to the fountain pool.

Plan a trip to one of these picturesque spots in Houston on prom night to capture your memories of the evening! Whether you choose Kemah Boardwalk, Hermann Park Conservancy, the Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park, or the Bayou Bend House and Gardens, you can be sure that your prom pictures will be ones you’ll treasure for a lifetime!
