H-Town Fun: Top Places Tourists Need to Go This Summer

If you’re planning on visiting the city of Houston this summer, you’ll want to stop by a few of the city’s signature attractions during your stay. The only problem is that there are so many attractions in Houston that it can be hard to decide which ones to visit! To help you plan your vacation, take a look at this list of the coolest tourist locations in Houston during the summer.

1. The Children’s Museum of Houston

Geared toward children aged 12 and younger, the Children’s Museum of Houston features interactive and fun exhibits that incorporate math, science, foreign language and geography into engaging activities for kids and parents. Exhibits on display at the museum’s 14 galleries include the nanotech “Matter Factory”, the “FlowWorks” interactive water exhibit, “Kidtropolis” — a city-style exhibit designed by kids, and the environmental education “EcoStation”. At the museum, kids can listen to storytelling, join in weekly themed activities, and attend educational workshops by grade level.

2. Space Center Houston

As the official attraction of Johnson Space Center, Space Center Houston offers an out-of-this-world experience for tourists in the Houston area. Focusing on the history of the NASA manned space flight program, the center features exhibits and experiences that allow visitors to simulate space flight, life on the International Space Station, and the exploration of Mars via the Mars Rover. In addition to participating in the virtual missions, tourists can explore a full-scale replica of the Space Shuttle, visit the historic mission control room where the Apollo missions were planned, and even have lunch with an actual NASA program astronaut.

3. Pirates Bay Water Park

During the hot Houston summer, Pirates Bay Water Park is definitely one of the “coolest” places for tourists. The park features water attractions for guests of all ages. Kids and young toddlers can play at the children’s play area, which features a multilevel play structure, splash fountains, a dumping bucket and a zero-depth entry. Teens and adults may enjoy braving Pirate Bay’s water slides, including the Mat Racers, the Body Slides and the Space Bowl. Surfing aficionados can even catch ten on the FlowRider surfing machine, which creates continuous waves for an extended surfing session.

4. Kemah Boardwalk

Located on the outskirts of Houston, Kemah Boardwalk literally offers something for everyone! The boardwalk is home to several attractions, including a classic amusement park, the Stingray Reef and Rainforest Exhibit, the Boardwalk Beast boat ride and the Boardwalk Bullet wooden roller coaster. Several restaurants and shops are also located at Kemah Boardwalk, including the Aquarium Restaurant, Saltgrass Steakhouse, The Toy Crossing, and the Treasure Chest Gift Shop.

When you visit H-Town during the summer, you’ll be sure to have a fun time at these Houston attractions! Whether you’re learning at the Children’s Museum of Houston, exploring the final frontier at Space Center Houston, splashing around at Pirates Bay Water Park, or seeing the sights at Kemah Boardwalk, your next Houston vacation is practically guaranteed to be one you won’t forget!
