Taking a Flight Soon? Try These Airline Apps

Smartphones keep us entertained, informed and organized. They have changed the way many people live over the last decade, and they have also changed the way we travel. Many apps are designed to make booking and taking a flight easier than ever. Some are built to find the best priced flights. Other apps keep track of your travel documents and offer details of your flight. Do you have a favorite app when flying? Here are a few worth downloading to try.

Three Apps to Make Planning Flights Easier:

The Flying App

Create a profile for your flying experiences. The Flying App not only tracks current flights in real time, but you can revisit past flights, take easily-referenceable notes and share your experience via social media.

Boarding Pass

If you frequently fly on several different airlines, Boarding Pass is a great way to de-complicate your travel arrangements. This app keeps all your flight information in one place, and it also offers access to more than 100 airlines. Note: Boarding Pass costs $4.99 from iTunes. All other apps mentioned in this post are free from iTunes and Google Play.

Skyscanner

If you’re looking for a great deal on a last-minute flight, Skyscanner is one of many apps that quickly compares millions of flights in a matter of seconds. When you book with the app, you can earn frequent flier miles where applicable.

Five Apps for Domestic Airline Carriers:

Most major airline companies have their own official app where you can access travel itinerary, monitor the status of your flight, check in, download a mobile boarding pass, and see your gate and seat number. Here are some of our favorites:

Fly Delta

More than 160 million customers use Fly Delta each year to track your bags, book SkyMiles tickets, compare domestic flights, and rebook missed or cancelled flights and missed connections. The app even provides reminders of where you parked your car.

JetBlue

The JetBlue app offers a lot of great functionality, including flight status notifications, in-flight entertainment and even a feature where you can make a postcard using a photo on your iPhone.

American Airlines

Get at-a-glance details of your flight. Once you log in to your account, you have the ability to make changes, such as switching your seat number.

Southwest Airlines

The Southwest app allows you to cancel flight reservations, book or cancel rental car reservations and receive severe weather alerts.

United Airlines

The app for United Airlines features in-flight maps, streaming movies and TV shows, and even information for flight attendants and pilots.

Getting To and From the Airport:

A good app can offer a lot of services for your flight, but a limo is a nice convenience when you arrive at or leave the airport! If you’re not parking or renting a car at the airport, taking a limousine service can be very affordable, especially if you have a lot of people traveling together. A limo offers room to stretch out and relax before boarding a plane, or after arriving from a long flight. Additionally, a limo allows you to forget about parking, traffic or other aggravations when traveling to and from the airport.
